NuSep Signs Letter of Intent with United Laboratories to Invest in Singapore & Philippines Plasma Facilities

Sydney, Australia 27[th] July 2011 - NuSep (ASX: NSP) is pleased to advise the market that it has signed a Letter of Intent with United Laboratories Inc of the Philippines ( Unilab ) for a potential investment in NuSep’s Singapore plasma fractionation facility and a concurrent new plasma fractionation facility to be established in the Philippines. These investments are dependent on due diligence to be conducted by Unilab and on terms to be negotiated by both parties which will begin in August 2011.

Unilab (www.unilab.com.ph) is a Philippines based pharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures and markets a wide range of prescription and consumer health products covering all major therapeutic categories. Unilab sells into the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Myanmar markets and operates a biotech business in China.

Unilab understands the potentially game changing nature of the PrIME process and wishes to explore a direct investment into in the Singapore plasma facility and concurrently establish a plasma fractionations facility in the Philippines. Unilab see the Philippine facility as a stepping stone into the other markets it serves. Whilst the details of the Philippines plasma fractionation facility are still to be negotiated NuSep expects that its contribution to this project will be limited to providing the technology and assistance in setting up the Philippines plant.

Mr John Manusu, NuSep’s Executive Chairman said, “This is a significant step forward as we now have the support of a Government and the interest of the pharmaceutical industry confirming the Singapore plasma fractionation project business model.”

Dr Hari Nair, Managing Director of NuSep added that “The involvement of United Laboratories provides commercial validation of the mini-mill plasma fractionation business plan. Both the recently announced EDB Singapore funding and this initiative drive home the true importance and commercial value of the PrIME technology i.e. the national imperative of all countries to be self-sufficient in the supply of their plasma products.”

MR Jose Maria Ochave, Senior Vice President for Business Development from Unilab said, “We are keen to work with NuSep to establish this new and critical project and assist the Philippines to become self-sufficient in its requirements for life saving therapeutic products.”

About SingaPharm

SingaPharm is a Singapore based biotech company that has developed a disposable procedure for the processing of plasma proteins. SingaPharm is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of NuSep Holdings Limited (ASX: NSP). SingaPharm’s process is based on the Pr eparative I solation by M embrane E lectrophoresis (PrIME) technology developed by NuSep. PrIME provides disposable modular processing that is ‘electronically’ driven membrane fractionation.

This process is flexible and modular compared with the large scale inflexible processing facilities of existing fractionators in US and Europe. The process has increased product yield relative to the existing process with increased product safety. The flexible nature of the PrIME technology also provides SingaPharm with access to plasma volumes that previously did not meet the criteria for larger scale processing facilities. Further, SingaPharm’s process can produce multiple plasma products in hours compared to days, which is required by the current manufacturers.
