MediClin AG strengthens the medical care network in Mecklenburg West-Pomerania Corporate-news announcement sent by DGAP. The sender is solely responsible for the contents of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Acute care hospital with a turnover of more than 28 million Euro Purchase price: 3 million Euro State promises to promote expansion with up to 30 million Euro Frankfurt, 2 January 2002. On 29 December 2001, MediClin AG acquired 57.5 % of the shares in the Müritz Clinic for a purchase price of approximately 3 million Euro. The well-positioned acute-care hospital with locations in Waren and Röbel realised a turnover of more than 28 million Euro in 2001. The Müritz district council made a decision in favour of the MediClin concept on 19 December 2001, giving a green light for the transfer of the shares which were formerly publicly held. The Müritz Clinic (Müritz-Klinikum GmbH) shareholders approved the transaction; they appreciate further development of the medical care network provided by MediClin in that region. Within the next two to three years, it is planned to invest a total of about 40 million Euro to this end. The state of Mecklenburg West-Pomerania promised to make funds available to the amount of up to 30 million Euro. MediClin is already represented in Mecklenburg West-Pomerania with several facilities; in October, MediClin took over the formerly state-funded hospital Crivitz am See which is also located in that region. The Müritz Clinic is a general hospital where the emphasis is on some special fields. With 411 beds, the range of medical services provided by this teaching hospital of the School of Medicine at the University of Rostock is an ideal addition to the Plau am See and Crivitz sites where MediClin runs co-operating acute care and rehabilitation facilities. The aim is to develop the Müritz Clinic into a modern health care center which includes special medical treatment such as minimum invasive interventions and, increasingly, out-patient treatment as well as medical services extending beyond the region in association with the other MediClin hospitals. The development of a co-ordinated medical care network will provide for high performance medical care in the new Klinikverbund Seenplatte (“Clinics Association Seenplatte”), i.e. the hospital Crivitz am See, Plau am See Clinic and the Müritz Clinic. This medical supply network will also be of interest to patients living in the wider area. MediClin MediClin AG is a nation-wide clinic operator with head office in Frankfurt The administrative headquarters of 43 clinics and facilities is in Offenburg. The MediClin facilities are distributed over 35 locations in 11 federal states and have a total capacity of over 9,000 beds. They include general hospitals, special treatment facilities, specialised hospitals, clinics for medical rehabilitation/subsequent nursing treatment and nursing facilities. Two facilities are run in the form of management agreements; MediClin has more than 9,500 employees of whom over 750 are physicians in various specialist fields For more information please contact MediClin AG Investor Relations Alexandra Mühr Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße 9-11 60329 Frankfurt am Main / Tel.: (069) 25 60 02-13 / Email: [email protected] end of message, (c)DGAP 02.01.2002
