MediClin: Group sales and Group operting result increased – Earnings forecast for the 2014 financial year has been slightly raised

Offenburg, October 31, 2014 – In the first nine months of 2014 MEDICLIN Aktiengesellschaft (MediClin) achieved Group sales of EUR 402.8 mill. (9M 2013: EUR 389.7 mill.) thus being EUR 13.1 mill. or 3.4 % above the previous year’s value. The post-acute segment contributed EUR 11.1 mill. and the acute segment EUR 2.3 mill. to the sales increase. The occupancy rate of the Group improved to 87.6 % (9M 2013: 85.4 %).

Compared to the nine-month-period 2013 the Group operating result improved by EUR 10.0 mill. from EUR 2.2 mill. to EUR 12.2 mill. and the result after tax attributable to shareholders of MediClin AG by EUR 9.4 mill. from EUR -1.4 mill. to EUR 8.0 mill.

Decisive for the good development in the Group was the continuing positive sales and earnings development of the post-acute segment in the 3 rd quarter compared with the previous year as well as with the 1 st and 2 nd quarter 2014 so that in the 3 rd quarter a Group operating result of EUR 9.1 mill. could be achieved. Particularly well performed the clinics of the post-acute segment which offer besides rehabilitation services also services of acute-neurology and acute-psychosomatic – the focus of investments was set on this expansion in 2012 and 2013. In the acute segment the segment result amounted to EUR 6.7 mill., which was EUR 0.7 mill. above the previous year’s value.

As of September 30, 2014 cash and cash equivalents were EUR 24.6 mill. (30.09.2013: EUR 16.3 mill.). In the first nine months of 2014 EUR 14.2 mill. (gross) was invested in non-current assets, thus being EUR 0.8 mill. above previous year’s level. The equity ratio was 47.9 % (30.09.2013: 48.6 %).

In the first nine months of 2014 MediClin employed on average 6,405 employees, measured in full-time employees (9M 2013: 6,372 full-time employees).

Sales forecast for the 2014 financial year is confirmed – earnings forecast has been slightly raised

The business development of the first nine months 2014 leads to the expectation that the predicted sales targets of the Group (+3.0 %) and of the segments post-acute (+4.5 % to +5.0 %) and acute (+1.0 % to +1.5%) will be achieved. The earning targets of EUR 4 to 6 mill. for the Group operating result will be slightly increased.

The interim report as of September 30, 2014 will be available in German and English from November 10, 2014 under www.mediclin.de.
