Offenburg, November 9, 2009 - The MEDICLIN Aktiengesellschaft (MediClin)
has generated Group sales of EUR 350.7 million in the first nine months of
the 2009 financial year, thus EUR 9.0 million or 2.6% more than in the
previous year's period. The Group operating profit was EUR 13.3 million,
EUR 1.0 million higher compared to last year's figure (9M 2008: EUR 12.3
mill.). Especially the third quarter has contributed to the operating
profit adding EUR 8.0 million and showing sales of EUR 119.8 million. The
comprehensive income attributable to shareholders of MediClin amounted to
EUR 7.6 million (9M 2008: EUR 6.2 mill.) in the first nine months of 2009.
The undiluted and diluted earnings per share were EUR 0.16 based on 47.5
million shares (9M 2008: EUR 0.19 based on 31.5 million shares).
MediClin shows liquid assets of EUR 61.1 million at September 30, 2009
(30.09.2008: EUR 31.9 mill.). The increase of liquid assets was primarily
attributable to a capital increase performed in November 2008.

Satisfying development in the segments
The occupancy rate could be increased in the post-acute and in the acute
segment as well as in the business field nursing care which is part of the
segment other activities. The segment result post-acute amounting EUR 3.7
million (9M 2008: EUR 4.9 mill.) was below last year's figure due to
increased costs but improved significantly compared to the previous
quarters of 2009. Also, in the acute segment the already noticed positive
development of the first two quarters 2009 further continued. The segment
result amounted to EUR 14.4 million; in the 9-months period 2008 it was EUR
12.2 million.

Number of nursing days on previous year's level
On Group level the number of nursing days accounted for 1,847,662 days
almost meeting last year's number (9M 2008: 1,847,923). The number of cases
reduced marginal to 90,230 cases (9M 2008: 90,885 cases). The occupancy
rate of the Group was 87.0 % (9M 2008: 86.4%).

The average number of employees in the first nine months of 2009,
calculated on the basis of full-time staff, was 5,816 full-time employees
(9M 2008: 5,808 full-time employees).
