Frankfurt am Main, November 7, 2008 – In the first nine months of 2008
Group sales of EUR 341.7 million were achieved, thus being EUR 49.3 million
or 16.9% above previous year’s value. Cleared of the turnover from the
clinics of the Kraichgau-Klinik AG, which totalled EUR 38.8 million, Group
sales would have been EUR 10.5 million or 3.6% higher than in the previous
year. The Group result of operations (EBIT) for the first nine months of
2008 amounts to EUR 12.3 million (9 M 2007: EUR 13.4 mill.) Compared with
the previous year’s period higher rent expenses totalled up to EUR 5.9
million. Furthermore pleasing is the development of the occupancy rates,
being 86.4% (9 M 2007: 84.2%) Group-wide in the meantime.

In the post-acute segment the increased costs, particularly the again
mature rental expenses, could be balanced by increased sales, and a
positive operating result was achieved. Subsequent nursing treatments
accounted for 59% of the nursing days including the newly acquired
facilities. In the acute segment the result was not maintained because
greater people-intensity and a higher consumption of medical materials were
showing a greater effect than in the post-acute segment. The EBIT margin is
7.9% (9M 2007: 10.4%). In the nursing care segment sales increase by
approximately 10%, the operating result was negatively impacted in 2008 by
the expansion and development of the Baar-Zentrum in Donaueschingen.

The per-case revenue totalled EUR 3,126 (9 M 2007: EUR 3,148) in the
post-acute segment and EUR 4,664 (9M 2007: EUR 4,131) in the acute segment.
The share of out-patient health care in the Group sales was EUR 7.9 mill.
(9M 2007: EUR 7.2 mill.).
