Euro, which was 5.1 mill. Euro or 2.8% above the figure for the first half-year of 2005. The largest increase in sales (3.0 mill.Euro) was recorded by the acute segment with 76.7 mill.Euro in sales, followed by the nursing care segment with an increase of 1.5 mill. Euro to a total of 4.1 mill. Euro. Sales in the post-acute segment were 0.7 mill. Euro above the previous year’s level. MediClin’s earnings situation significantly improved in the half-year comparison. At 5.6 mill. Euro, the operating result for the Group was 3.0 mill. Euro above the previous year’s figure of 2.6 mill. Euro. The post-acute and nursing care segments are still showing a negative result, but have greatly reduced their losses. The acute segment showed a segment result of 8.5 mill. Euro, thus generating an 11.1% profit-margin. The Group result after minority interests in this half-year was 2.5 mill. Euro as compared to the previous year’s figure of -1.0 mill. Euro. Sales and results are satisfactory in all three segments All three segments showed a positive business development. The number of cases in the acute segment rose by 2.6% as compared to the same figure for the previous year, while the number of nursing days decreased by 2.2% due to the shorter duration of stay. In the post-acute segment, both the number of nursing days as well as the number of cases were 0.5% above the figures for the first half-year of 2005. The number of nursing days rose by 55.7 % in the nursing care segment. The average occupancy rate in the first half-year of 2006 for these facilities was 79.5 % (basis: 380 beds), the figure for the same six month period in the previous year was 58.7 % (basis: 331 beds). The share of outpatient care in the Group revenue rose by 12.1% to over 4.0 mill. Euro in the half-year comparison. The MediClin Board of Management currently expects moderate sales growth for the 2006 financial year as a whole and a result on the same level as the previous year.
