MediClin AG reports preliminary figures for financial year 2002 Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– MediClin AG reports preliminary figures for financial year 2002 – Sales increased by 19.5 percent to euro 371.6 million in comparison last year – Low occupancy in December burdens the result of the fourth quarter of 2002 – Consolidated operating result is expected to amount to minus euro 6.3 million Frankfurt, 19. February, 2003 MediClin AG, one of the largest German clinic operators, is expected to have achieved sales, including inventory changes, of euro 371.6 million (p.y.: euro 311 m.) in financial year 2002. Sales in the fourth quarter were euro 90.8 million (p.y.: euro 79.5 m.). Overall, sales development in 2002 lagged behind expectations. As previously, one of the reasons for this is the weak economy and the less than optimistic outlook on the labour market that causes a reluctance to take advantage of medical services not immediately necessary. This had a correspondingly negative effect on the operative result which will amount to minus euro 6.3 million. The operating result is adversely affected by one-time expenses and special influences that are associated with re-orientation and restructuring at clinics.At year-end, MediClin will show a consolidated net loss of euro 13.4 million (p.y.: consolidated net income: euro 8.8 m.) The Management Board has presented to he Supervisory Board an extensive packet of measures that will be implemented in 2003. The final version of the annual financial statements 2002 and the annual report for 2002 will be published on 17 April, 2003.
