MediClin AG: Third Quarter 2002 Stronger than the Previous Quarters Corporate-news announcement sent by DGAP. The sender is solely responsible for the contents of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– -Operative result achieved in the third quarter: EUR 3.6 million -Sales increased by 24.1 per cent up to EUR 281 million in the first nine months of the year -Positive trend due to cost management and integration Frankfurt, 12 November 2002 MediClin AG, one of the largest German clinic operators, achieved group sales including increase in work in process in the amount of EUR 96 million (previous year: EUR 81 million) in the third quarter of the current financial year. The operative result came to plus EUR 3.6 million (previous year: EUR 7.7 million) and group sales were plus EUR 1.4 million (previous year: EUR 5.1 million). Occupancy of the clinics increased by 1.4 percentage points to 80.4 percent in comparison with the first six months of the year. Cost management and ongoing integration made a significant contribution to the positive development during the quarter. Group sales including increase in work in process reached EUR 281 million (previous year: EUR 231 million) during the fist nine months of the financial year. Due to the still weak economic environment, the trend to postpone medical treatment, if possible, continues. The operating result amounts to EUR 1.9 million (previous year: EUR 16.5 million) following a minus of EUR 1.7 million as at mid year. In comparison with the mid-year result, the group result improved from minus EUR 3.6 million to minus EUR 2.3 million (previous year: EUR 9.6 million). Occupancy rates in October meet MediClins projections. MediClin expects stable development for November and December provided that the current political debate on reforms in the health service do not lead to immediate changes of the system.
