SIMEST (CDP GROUP) ENTERS THE SHARE CAPITAL OF MEDICA USA INC

An investment of €1.9 million to support the Emilia-based company's international growth in the North American market

Medolla (MO), 5 april 2023 –Medica S.p.A., an integrated Italian biomedical and MedTech group with a strong international footprint, announces that it has signed an investment contract with SIMEST - the company of the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Group for the internationalization of Italian companies - aimed at entering the share capital of Medica USA Inc., currently wholly owned by Medica S.p.A..

SIMEST's investment of 1.9 million euros in Medica's international expansion project takes the form of the acquisition of a 30% stake in Medica USA (for an amount of approximately 0.8 million euros) and in signing of an interest-bearing shareholder loan agreement (for the remaining approximately 1.1 million euro). The operation - which also benefited from the intervention of the Venture Capital Fund, managed by SIMEST in agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation - confirms SIMEST's commitment to supporting the international growth of Italian companies of excellence.

Luciano Fecondini Chairman of Medica USA and Medica SpA commented: "SIMEST's entry into the share capital of Medica USA Inc. allows Medica to develop the envisaged investment plan in the American company in the broader geographical expansion project of the Group, strengthened from the contract for the purchase of assets to manufacture blood filters and water filters finalized with Evoqua Water Technologies on April 1, 2023.
