MaxiTRANS REVIEWS MANUFACTURING FOOTPRINT
MaxiTRANS Industries Limited (‘MXI’) is Australia’s largest supplier of road transport trailing equipment and solutions.
Following an extensive strategic review of its Australian operations, MaxiTRANS announces its decision to consolidate certain manufacturing operations in furtherance of its objective of achieving continuous improvement in operational efficiency and financial performance.
As a result of this review, MaxiTRANS will transfer all Hamelex White manufacturing operations from its current facility in Hallam to its Ballarat manufacturing facility which produces Freighter trailers and Maxi-CUBE and Peki vans. MaxiTRANS’ Ballarat facility has benefited from ongoing investment in people, systems and infrastructure and has improved its capabilities and operating capacity, enabling it to integrate manufacturing volumes for Hamelex White products. The transition will commence immediately and will be completed by December 2010.
All Hamelex White engineering, sales and repairs/service functions will continue to operate from Hallam in the short term until a stand alone retail and service facility can be located. The existing Hallam manufacturing facility will be marketed for sale and the proceeds will be used to reduce debt in the absence of other strategic opportunities.
Upon completion, the restructure will be earnings accretive (excluding one-off restructuring costs), will strengthen customer service in the South East of Melbourne and improve Hamelex White’s competitiveness in the market thus allowing it to maintain its position as one of the pre-eminent tipper brands in Australia.
