Press release on Czech Republic/Slovakia

Masterflex AG further expanding international activities

– Subsidiary Masterflex Česko s.r.o. launches own sales activities in Czech Republic and Slovakia

– Further step in internationalisation strategy after Brazil and Russia

Gelsenkirchen/Planá (Czech Republic), 6 July 2011 – Masterflex AG is further expanding its international presence and, effective immediately, operates on the Czech and Slovakian market directly through its own subsidiary in Planá/Czech Republic. In the past, the subsidiary in the Czech Republic only produced vulcanised hoses from neoprene or silicon and coated glass fabric using state-of-the-art equipment. In addition to drying equipment in the plastics industry, classic applications for these hoses include automotive, aircraft and engine manufacturing. Local sales in the Czech Republic and Slovakia began at a trade fair appearance at ‘For Industry’, an international event showcasing the full diversity of industrial production.

Dr. Andreas Bastin, CEO of Masterflex AG, says: ‘The step of no longer just manufacturing in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and instead offering customers the full range of the Masterflex Group locally and with greater proximity is the next systematic stage in continuing our strategy of internationalisation. We already launched our own subsidiaries in Brazil and Russia in 2010. The start on both emerging markets has been highly promising. Following the end of the economic crisis, we feel there is also significant potential in the Eastern European states and so we want to position ourselves close to the market in selected countries with our own subsidiaries.’ Masterflex AG is currently represented by subsidiaries in eight countries. After concluding its restructuring in 2010, Masterflex is concentrating on further advancing its own core business of High-Tech Hose Systems at an international level. Its success was clearly visible in the first quarter of 2011 with a sales surge of 24.2 % to EUR 13.9 million and EBIT of 17.2 %.

‘Taking part in For Industry was a huge success for us,’ commented Gerald Franke, Managing Director of Masterflex Česko s.r.o. in Planá. ‘As For Industry takes place simultaneously with For Surface (surface technology), For 3P (packaging) and For Waste (waste management), this collection of trade fairs covers the full palette of industrial production. This is ideal for us with our broad range of applications. As a specialist for highly sophisticated hose and connector systems, our booth generated a lot of traffic. The exhibits on show at the fair gave the trade professionals there the opportunity to see the high quality of our products for themselves.’
