Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

On November 15, 2021, Bradley J. Kiscaden, President and Chief Administrative Officer, Insurance Operations, of Markel Corporation (the Company), informed the Company of his plan to retire April 1, 2022. Mr. Kiscaden, 58, has been the Company’s President and Chief Administrative Officer, Insurance Operations since September 2018, and served as Executive Vice President and Chief Actuarial Officer from July 2012 to September 2018 and Chief Actuarial Officer from March 1999 to September 2018. The Company intends to transition Mr. Kiscaden's duties to other corporate executives.
