Macquarie Telecom Announces Further Earnings Guidance Upgrade 2009 Half-Year Results
Australian carrier Macquarie Telecom (ASX: MAQ) today announced a further upgrade to its earnings guidance for the first half of fiscal 2009 given on 13 November 2008.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for the first half of fiscal 2009 is expected to be approximately $12 million, up 100% from the previous corresponding period result of $6 million. In addition, Macquarie Telecom confirms that it expects to achieve a Net Profit after Tax (NPAT) for the first half of fiscal 2009.
“The result will be Macquarie Telecom’s best trading result for any half year, and demonstrates Macquarie is delivering on its strategy,” said Chief Executive David Tudehope.
Macquarie Telecom’s Data & Hosting businesses have continued to perform strongly and underlie the expected result for the first half of fiscal 2009. Macquarie Telecom’s revenue mix continues to improve, with its higher margin Data & Hosting businesses generating increased contributions.
Mr Tudehope said, “The expected result for the first half of 2009, achieved during a period of significant economic volatility, reflects Macquarie Telecom’s successful approach to building a robust business which is demonstrating scalable profit growth.”
Macquarie Telecom maintains a strong balance sheet with cash and cash equivalents of $27.8 million as at 31 December 2008.
It should be noted that these results are preliminary in nature and subject to final review by the company and its external auditors.
Macquarie Telecom will release its results for the six months ended 31 December 2008 on 26 February 2009.
