Munich, January 5, 2009 – According to provisional figures, the Munich
fashion group LUDWIG BECK (ISIN DE 0005199905) increased its
branch-adjusted gross sales in the fiscal year 2008 by € 1.9m to € 102.6m
(previous year: € 100.7m). This corresponds to a 1.8 % plus. Preliminary
estimates of TextilWirtschaft indicate that the textile retail trade will
generally suffer a 4 % drop in sales. In the year 2008, LUDWIG BECK was
able to contrast favorably against the general branch trend once again.
Branch-unadjusted sales – LUDWIG BECK had trimmed its branch network in
2008 – amounted to € 102.6m (previous year: € 103.5m).

Contrary to apprehensions voiced by many sides, this year’s Christmas
business was better than the year before. Consumers were not willing to
have their buying mood spoiled by the prevailing news.

'The year 2008 was marked by the financial crisis. In view of the
surrounding situation we are highly satisfied with the development of our
sales. We are confident that we will be able to achieve the envisaged 10 %
EBIT increase completely', Dieter Münch, member of the Executive Board of
LUDWIG BECK states. 'In the year 2009 the retail trade will have to face
great challenges. We are well prepared', Münch concludes.

March 11, 2009.
