Garbsen, 23.12.2021 – The technology company LPKF Laser & Electronics AG today concluded a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) for a glass processing technology with one of the major global display enterprises.

Building on extensive joint development work, the companies will further optimize a specific solution enabling future display devices. If the development is successfully completed, LPKF expects this technology to be widely used in various applications for the enterprise.

The development is based on LPKF’s LIDE technology (Laser Induced Deep Etching) which enables customers to process thin glass quickly, precisely and without any damage such as micro cracks. This makes LIDE a fundamental technology for many microsystems technology applications, including flexible displays and semiconductors as well as microfluidics or MEMS fabrication.

Although LPKF cannot indicate a specific sales volume resulting from the JDA at this stage, the company considers this agreement a major milestone in its commercialization strategy for LIDE in the display area. The JDA is also viewed as an important step to reach the company’s mid-term guidance.

The parties have agreed not to disclose details of the JDA.
