Livium expands battery recycling scope with BYD Australia

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Livium has signed a new expanded recycling agreement with BYD Australia which supersedes the prior agreement with BYD Auto[1]

  • Expanded recycling services include commercial vehicle battery ranges and battery energy storage systems, in addition to New Energy vehicle batteries[2]

  • BYD Australia is a subsidiary of BYD Company Limited, a global leader in New Energy vehicles, delivering a record 4.27 million New Energy vehicles globally in 2024[3] and holds 14% of Australia’s EV market share after entering the market in 2022[4]

  • The New Agreement commences on 1 May 2025, for an initial term of 3 years and complements other executed battery recycling agreements and demonstrates confidence in Livium as a battery recycler of choice

Livium Ltd (ASX: LIT) (“ Livium ” or the “ Company ”) is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary Envirostream Australia Pty Ltd (“ Envirostream ”), a leader within the Australian battery recycling industry, has entered into a new expanded recycling agreement (" New Agreement ") with BYD Australia Pty Ltd (" BYD Australia "), a subsidiary of BYD Company Limited. This New Agreement supersedes the original agreement between Envirostream and BYD Auto Industry Company Limited (" BYD Auto ") to better address the growing requirements of the broader BYD business in the Australian market.

Under the New Agreement, Livium is appointed as the preferred supplier for recycling services for BYD Australia, expanding the range of BYD’s end-of-life products from the previous agreement to include New Energy vehicle batteries, commercial vehicle battery ranges, and BYD battery energy storage systems (“ BESS ”).

Comment from Livium CEO and Managing Director, Simon Linge

"Expanding our recycling scope with the BYD Company group in Australia demonstrates the quality of Envirostream’s services.

“In the short time working together our volume expectations have been exceeded, and we are excited to expand our partnership through this New Agreement. We thank BYD Australia for their confidence in our capabilities and look forward to maintaining our high quality of service."

Comment from BYD Australia General Manager, Wing You

The New Agreement commences on 1 May 2025, with an initial 3-year term and an optional term of 1-year. Whilst minimum volumes have been committed by BYD Australia, due to the commercially sensitive nature of the terms, Livium is not in a position to quantify the economic impact of the New Agreement. Customary termination rights exist on the occurrence of an insolvency event or any unremedied breach under the Agreement.

This Agreement aligns with Livium’s focus to secure long term battery recycling contracts and diversify its endof-life battery sources. It also ensures a stable and scalable source of batteries from both the electric vehicle and BESS sectors.

Looking forward, Livium and BYD are actively working together to expand service provision beyond Australia. This collaboration aims to extend lithium-ion battery recycling reach to New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, and the greater Oceania region. While still in development, this initiative represents an exciting opportunity to enhance service accessibility and strengthen regional environmental outcomes. We look forward to sharing further updates as our plans progress.

Authorised for release by the Board.
