ASX ANNOUNCEMENT

LITHIUM AUSTRALIA PARTNER TIN INTERNATIONAL AG GRANTED KEY EXPLORATION LICENCE

HIGHLIGHTS

  • LIT JV partner is awarded additional tenure around Sadisdorf project.

  • High potential for additional tin-lithium mineralisation.

In accordance with its European supply strategy, Lithium Australia NL (ASX:LIT) is party to a farm-in and JV agreement with Tin International AG with respect to the Sadisdorf project, as previously announced. That project is located in in the Eastern Ore Mountains of Saxony, Germany. The initial focus the agreement was the dormant Sadisdorf tin mine, which is enveloped in a pervasive lithium alteration halo and has a maiden resource (announced 7 December 2017) as outlined below.

Classification Domain Tonnes (Mt) Li (%) Li2O (%)
Inferred Inner greisen 17 0.22 0.47
Inferred Outer greisen 8 0.20 0.43
Inferred Total 25 0.21 0.45
Note: the Mineral Resource was estimated within constraining wireframe solids defined above (with a nominal 0.15% Li cut-off). The Mineral Resource is reported from all blocks within these wireframe solids. Differences may occur due to rounding.

Application of Lithium Australia’s SiLeach® process to recover both lithium and a range of byproducts has the potential to breathe new life into the Sadisdorf operation, where drilling has already commenced to upgrade the resource.

Now the Upper Mining Authority of Saxony has granted Tin International an additional exploration licence covering 15 km[2] around the Hegelshöhe hillside, just 5 km southeast of the Sadisdorf licence. It is intended that Hegelshöhe – which is located in the same regional geological formation that hosts the lithium mica deposits of Sadisdorf, Zinnwald and Cinovech (Czech Republic) – be included in the joint exploration package.

The Hegelshöhe licence shares its northern border with the Falkenhain, currently being explored by Deutsche Lithium and partner Bacanora Minerals Ltd (TSX-V:BCN). On the basis of historic mining and exploration activities in the area, Tin International considers that the likelihood of discovering substantial tin-lithium mineralization in the area is high.
