BOARD OF DIRECTORS Martin Pyle (Non-Executive Chairman) Adrian Griffin (Managing Director) Bryan Dixon (Non-Executive Director) Philip Miolin (Non-Executive Director) David Seymour (Non-Executive Director)
Midwinter Resources NL ("Midwinter") is pleased to announce the appointment of Eduardo Valenzuela to the Board of Directors. Midwinter has recently announced plans to earn a 65% interest in the Mantos Grandes copper/gold project in Chile, and Eduardo's appointment is consistent with this strategy. Eduardo will bring much needed local experience to the Board, and strengthen both the technical and commercial attributes of the management team.
Eduardo graduated as a mining engineer in Chile in 1978 and also holds a Master of Business in International Management from Curtin University in WA. He has extensive mining industry experience in Australia, Latin America, USA, the Middle East and Asia, working with top-tier and junior mining companies and consulting organizations such as BHP Minerals, BHP Engineering, IFC (World Bank), Anaconda Nickel, SKM, and Sundance Resources. Eduardo specializes in project management, mine management, and multi-disciplinary feasibility studies.
Eduardo will bring extensive Latin American experience to the Midwinter Board. That experience includes management of BHP Engineering’s Latin American office, management of the Phase IV expansion of BHP’s Escondida copper mine (Chile) and Strategic Planning Manager for Escondida. Eduardo’s role at the IFC included technical participation in debt and equity project financing, responsibility for multi-disciplinary project assessment, due diligence, and technical reviews concerning mining projects in developing countries in Asia and Latin America. The Board welcomes Eduardo and looks forward to his contribution as Midwinter builds a new project focus in Chile. Timing of the appointment is important in maximizing project performance, particularly in a climate of rising copper and gold prices (copper rose to US$7400/t in London on Friday, demand out of China remains strong; and gold has risen US178 per ounce to $1378, from its low in late June).
