MIDWINTER APPOINTS NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR

The Midwinter Resources NL (ASX: MWN) Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Adrian Griffin as Managing Director of the Company.

Mr Griffin, has extensive experience in the resource sector accumulated over 35 years. He has held directorships in a number of private and listed resource companies and has been responsible for operating large integrated mining and processing facilities including the Bulong nickel-cobalt operation in the late 1990s. Mr Griffin has substantial experience in the mining industry in South Africa and in particular was founder and technical director of Ferrum Crescent, a developer of iron ore in that country.

Mr Griffin graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1975 (with majors in Geology and Metallurgy) and began his professional career by exploring for base metals in Tasmania. He went on to develop mine-planning, grade control and exploration methods in iron ore for BHP. In the 1980’s Mr Griffin was operations manager with a number of public companies involved in the mining and production of gold and base metals in Australian and south-east Asia. In 1988, he managed the commissioning of underground production at Bellevue Gold Mine. Mr Griffin began consulting to the mining industry in 1990 and has held board positions with a number of public companies since then. His management experience, which is broad, encompasses exploration, financing, development, commissioning and the production of a wide range on mineral commodities.

Commenting on the appointment Chairman Martin Pyle noted: “we are fortunate to have secured the services of Adrian who has substantial experience in the iron ore sector and particularly relevant experience in South Africa. Adrian’s extensive experience in project development, mining and processing operations provides Midwinter with a significant boast to our management capability and we heartily welcome him to the company.

About Midwinter

Midwinter is focused on advancing the Northern Lights Iron Ore Project in the Republic of South Africa. With over 28km of broad magnetic signatures generated by detailed aerial magnetic survey. The largest continuous anomaly is approximately 10km in length .

Assays from drilling and surface iron samples range from 23% to 41% Fe . Mineralization is coarsegrained and amenable to low cost concentration processes . The mineralization exhibits very low impurity levels and should be capable of producing very high quality concentrates.
