Lend Lease maintains leadership in Dow Jones World Sustainability Index

Lend Lease has been included in the 2012 Dow Jones World Sustainability Index (DJSI) recognising the Group’s leading position in sustainability. This is the tenth year the Group has been included in the index.

Lend Lease was ranked in the top 8 per cent of property companies and well ahead of the global average industry score of 43 per cent. The Group achieved scores of 90 per cent or higher in a range of categories, including Building Materials, Environmental Policy/Management Systems, Stakeholder Engagement, Corporate Governance, Human Capital Development and Social Integration.

Lend Lease Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Steve McCann, said “the results reflect the Group’s continued commitment and achievements in sustainable practices for the benefit of future generations.

“Lend Lease was the first Australian property company to be recognised in the DJSI in 2001. Our regular inclusion in the index is a great acknowledgement of the work done by our people to stay at the forefront of sustainability innovation and leadership,” said Mr McCann. “We are continuing to improve the alignment of Environmental, Social, Governance and Economic performance targets with our business operations.”

The DJSI tracks the financial performance of the world’s leading sustainability-driven companies, providing asset managers with objective benchmarks to manage sustainability portfolios. DJSI enables investors to integrate sustainability considerations into their portfolios while providing an effective engagement platform for encouraging companies to adopt sustainable best practices.
