Lend Lease preferred for Southern Expressway duplication

Lend Lease today announced it has been selected as preferred contractor for the A$407.5 million duplication of the Southern Expressway in Adelaide for the South Australian Government.

The project will be delivered through a 50/50 joint venture between Baulderstone and Abigroup, both part of Lend Lease’s Australian infrastructure business. The project involves the design and construction of approximately 18.5km of roadway and duplication of existing interchanges and bridges.

Lend Lease Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr Steve McCann, welcomed this latest opportunity in South Australia where Lend Lease is delivering a number of projects including the Adelaide Convention Centre and the Adelaide Oval Redevelopment.

“We are very pleased to be working with the South Australian government to deliver this contract,” said Mr McCann.

Construction will start in late 2011 and is scheduled for completion in mid 2014.
