AWY announces initial purchase of “new make” single malt whisky.

Australian Whisky Holdings Limited (AWY) is pleased to announce the purchase of 32 X100 litre barrels of “new make” whisky from Archie Rose Distilling Co. This purchase represents the initial step in the strategy to build stocks of maturing whisky sourced from premium craft distilleries in Australia.

Since commencing operation at Rosebery, Sydney in 2015, as the first independent distillery in Sydney in over 160 years, Archie Rose has been laying down barrels of single malt whisky and Rye whiskey as well as retailing premium gin, vodka and white rye through its own boutique bar at Rosebery and distributing to selected retailers in Sydney.

The 32 barrels are a mix of sherry, bourbon and port barrels sourced from cooperages in both Tasmania and South Australia by Tim Duckett who is consulting to AWY on all aspects of selecting both prospective suppliers and product with which to build an appropriate inventory of Australian craft whisky. Tim is the owner of Heartwood Whisky of Tasmania and is widely known for his award winning specialty releases.

AWY plans to make further purchases of “new make” whisky from selected Australian craft distillers as part of the overall strategy of contributing to the growth of these partners via direct participation in facilitating both the production and marketing of their products.
