(b) Departure of Director

On August 30, 2012, Lam Research Corporation announced that James Bagley, chairman of the board of directors of Lam Research Corporation (the “Company”), is retiring from his position with the Company effective as of the Company’s 2012 Annual Meeting of Stockholders on November 1, 2012. At that time, Stephen G. Newberry will become chairman of the board.

On August 30, 2012, the Company issued a press release, attached to this Current Report on Form 8-K as Exhibit 99.1, announcing Mr. Bagley’s retirement.
