LACHLAN STAR APPOINTS PETER DROBECK AS NONEXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Perth, Western Australia: Gold miner, Lachlan Star Limited (“Lachlan” or the “Company”) (ASX and TSX: LSA) is

pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Peter Drobeck as a non-executive director effective 22 November 2012.

Mr. Drobeck is a Denver based geologist with over 30 years experience in exploration and mining, much of this in Latin America. Peter’s broad experience encompasses roles as:

• Manager New Projects, Silver Standard Resources, current – responsible for new project generation

• Sr. Vice President, Exploration & Business Development with AuRico from 2008-2011 where he built the exploration division staff to 28 geologic professionals with a land position of 295,000 hectares, annual drill programs of 200,000m, and annual budgets of $40M in Mexico

• Independent consulting from 1999 to 2006, which included discovery of the Vicuna Project “Filo del Sol” breccia pipe Cu-Au-Ag deposit that straddles the Chile – Argentina border for NGEX Resources.

• Senior District Geologist for Newcrest Resources in Chile from 1995 to 1999, where he led the discovery team at the Caspiche Au-Cu porphyry through mapping, geophysics and drilling.

The Company welcomes Mr. Drobeck to the board and looks forward to his valuable contribution going forward. His knowledge of mining in Latin America, Spanish language skills and geological understanding will provide additional board depth.

This appointment is in keeping with the Company’s strategy of moving the focus of its operations to the Americas, where its main asset is located, the majority of its shareholders reside and the majority of its shares are traded (on the TSX).
