Pune: Burger King staffers booked after glass shards found in food

Pune A 31-year-old man had to be hospitalised after he ingested pieces of glass which were in ^a burger that was served to him at ^a restaurant on Fergusson College Road on Sunday. An offence has been registered against the staff members ofthe restaurant.

The complainant, Sajit Ajmuddin Pathan said: "We ordered three non-vegetarian and one vegetarian burger and I had picked up the food from the counter. After eating the non-vegetarian burger, I started having ^a severe pricking sensation in my throat. As I closely saw the burger, I saw small pieces ofglass in it."

A case on charges ofendangering personal safety of others has been lodged and the staffmembers have been booked. No arrest has been made yet.

Three dead in gas leak in Mumbai: Police book owner of firm for negfigence

Mumbai The owner of ^a chemical company, in which three employees died of ^a gas leak on May 12, was arrested by Boisar Police on Sunday. Police said Parimal Shaha, the owner, had allegedly not supplied his staffwith any safety gear. Three employees of Esquire Chemicals, located in MIDC Boisar, died after ^a gas leak which started at around ⁴ pm, police said."He (Shaha) was arrested from his Kandivali flat late on Sunday. He is in our custody. He has been booked for causing death by negligence as none of the staffers in the company had been given any safety kit. There were no goggles or gloves ofany kind even for the operator, who died," said the officer.The Boisar Police is also checking if the arrested accused had obtained the necessary permits to run the firm.

Gang busted for selling medicines for defence use in black market in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbal Navi Mumbai Police have busted ^a gang allegedly involved in selling medicines meant for defence personnel. Police nabbed the accused after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) registered ^a case withVashi Police. Crime branch officials said the accused had diverted consignments meant for defence personnel to the black market."We have arrested nine men, some of whom were working for ^a firm in Sanpada. The medicines used to come from Jammu, Amritsar, Lucknow, Pune and other cities. The accused used to wipe away the 'defence personnel only' tag using ^a special chemical, after which the medicines were sold to private stores
