The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Haitec AG shows recovery in first quarter Munich, 2 May, 2002 – The Munich based IT service provider Haitec AG has been able to noticeably improve its results for the first quarter of 2002 as a result of its extensive restructuring programme. Although turnover dropped to 11.95 million Euro (Py. Q1/01 25.56 million Euo) as a result of selling Update GmbH & Co. KG (as of 30.09.01), the operating profit (EBIT) improved from -3.07 Million Euro in the first quarter of 2001 to -0.60 Million Euro within the first three months of the current fiscal year. In comparison to -2.37 million Euro in Q1/2001, the EBITDA was at -0.23 million Euro, the annual deficit decreased from -2.23 million Euro in the previous year to only -0.59 million Euro. The system vendor’s volume of orders of 10.25 million Euro (comp. Q1/2002: 24.32 million Euo) was lower than during the comparative period of 2001 in correspondence with the current market situation. The volume of orders was made up by 6.41 million Euro from the area of trade and 3.84 Million Euro from the high-margin area of services. The DVFA result of -0.18 Euro per share (Py. Q1/01 -0.67 Euro) is also a noticeable improvement for Haitec. The consistently implemented restructuring measures are starting to pay off and first result improvements are recognisable. Expenses within the corporation have been adapted to the reduced sales figures, creating a fairly balanced ratio between sales and costs. The company’s strategic reorientation and refocus on the core business areas of system integration and PLM, the concentration on the high-margin servicing business, the strengthening of own software development through establishing a subsidiary will contribute to securing long term profitability.
