Appointment of Derek Carew-Hopkins as Non-Executive Director

NiPlats Australia Limited (ASX: NIP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Derek Carew-Hopkins as Non-Executive Director effective immediately. Mr Carew-Hopkins experience and extensive contacts will greatly assist the Company in the future development of the existing prospects.

Mr Carew-Hopkins has extensive experience in engineering and is a specialist in water and environmental issues. As the Director General of the Department of Environment, Mr Carew-Hopkins had responsibility for a diverse range of environmental and water related regulation, assessment and investigation including a significant agenda of new initiatives across the environment portfolio. He left Government in 2006 and now runs a consultancy specialising in guiding development projects through the approval processes.

Mr Carew-Hopkins has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Central Queensland and is an accredited Mediator in dispute resolution. He spent the early part of his career in mining and construction project management and many years in water supply development. He is well known for his expertise in groundwater investigations and wellfield development and dispute resolution.

The following options have been granted to Mr Carew-Hopkins, subject to shareholder approval:

  • 100,000 options with an exercise price of 50 cents;

  • 100,000 options with an exercise price of 65 cents;

  • 100,000 options with an exercise price of 80 cents.

All options are subject to shareholder approval and will vest immediately upon grant of shareholder approval. The options expire 30 June 2012.

Background

NiPlats Australia Limited has a 100% interest in three granted Mining Leases (M80/267, M80/269 and M80/270) and two granted exploration licences (E80/2863 and E80/3657) covering 473 km[2] located about 100 km southwest of Kununurra.The tenements cover the Speewah Dome where Proterozoic-age Hart Dolerite intrudes older sediments of the Speewah and Kimberley Groups, which has been disrupted by fault and fault splays of the Greenvale Fault Zone that hosts both fluorite mineralisation and carbonatites in the Speewah area.
