Kesko's sales increased in August by 11.4 %

KESKO CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 14.09.2011 AT 09.00 1(2)

The Kesko Group's sales in August 2011, excluding VAT, totalled €857.3 million,
showing an increase of 11.4%.

In Kesko's food trade, sales in August were €373.0 million, an increase of
11.0% compared to the previous year. Sales to the K-food store chains were up by
13.5%. The sales of Pirkka products to K-food stores increased by 41.7%.

In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in August were €133.7 million, an
increase of 1.4% compared to the previous year. The sales of the Asko and Sotka
chains and K-citymarket's home and speciality goods increased.

In the building and home improvement trade, sales in August were €271.3 million,
an increase of 12.1%. Sales in Finland were up by 14.1%. Sales abroad increased
by 10.5% in terms of euros and by 15.0% in terms of local currencies. In Russia,
sales increased by 15.2% in terms of euros and by 20.6% in terms of the local
currency.

In the car and machinery trade, sales in August were €93.9 million, an increase
of 30.1%. VV-Auto's sales in August were €66.1 million, up 33.1%. Konekesko's
sales in August were €28.0 million, an increase of 23.6%. Sales development was
particularly good in the agricultural machinery trade.

Change, % indicates the change over the corresponding period of the previous
year.

The reporting of the sales and sales adjustments of the foreign operations of
the building and home improvement trade has been harmonised, and sales
performance has been calculated based on comparable sales figures.

In August 2011, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland was
23, which was one more than in the previous year. The total number of wholesale
selling days in January-August was one more than in the previous year. The
number of retail selling days in August was 31, which was the same as in the
previous year. The total number of retail selling days in January-August was the
same as in the previous year.
