CPH: Slower pace in spring

Although a number of airlines reported growth, passenger numbers at Copenhagen
Airport were down by 1.2% in May. Year-to-date passenger numbers were down by
0.2% on last year, or by around 16,000 travellers.

Overall, Copenhagen Airport was affected by lower year-on-year capacity and
lower load factors at SAS – the airline accounts for more than 40% of traffic
at Copenhagen Airport. Despite general growth in other traffic, overall
passenger numbers fell by 1.2%.

European traffic was only 0.3% lower than last year, thanks in part to the
opening of several new routes. For example, traffic grew by 22.0% to Milan and
by 17.4% to London.

Domestic traffic grew by 10.8% to Karup and by 4.5% to Rønne. However, domestic
traffic was also affected by reductions of capacity to a number of destinations
by several airlines, and with a total of just over 16,000 fewer seats
available, the number of domestic passengers dropped by almost the same number.
Intercontinental traffic was down by 3.0%, partly as a result of a decline in
the number of transfer passengers.

In the first five months of the year, 9,816,301 passengers travelled through
Copenhagen Airport, which was 16,590 fewer than last year, corresponding to a
drop of 0.2%.
