CPH: Traffic performance in line with expectations

The growth in passenger numbers at Copenhagen Airport in March was 0.1%. This was in line with expectations as a year-to-year shift in holidays reduced the growth rate. The year-to-date increase in passenger numbers is 4.3%.

"The various holidays in the three spring months and the timing as to which month they occur in from year to year renders it impossible to make a true month-to-month comparison of the traffic figures in the three months of spring. Last year, the peak travel days before Easter were in late March, whereas they will be in April this year. It was therefore anticipated, that the growth rate would be falling this month," said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales and Marketing for Copenhagen Airport.

Moreover, the unstable situation in the Middle East and the natural disaster in Japan have also had an adverse impact on the traffic figures.

A total of 1,777,460 passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in March, representing a year-onyear growth rate of 0.1%. The number of international passengers rose by 0.6%, domestic traffic declined by 3.8% and the number of transfer passengers was down by 6.2%.

There have been a number of changes in the Top10 list of destinations out of Copenhagen since February: Oslo has taken over the second place from Stockholm, Paris has overtaken Amsterdam, Helsinki has changed position with Frankfurt, and Brussels has entered the Top10 list. London continues to be the biggest destination out of Copenhagen.
