CPH: Good start to the summer
Traffic continues to grow at Copenhagen Airport. June was the busiest month in
the airport's history, as passenger numbers reached 2,523,108, representing an
8.3% year-on-year increase.
The busiest month in the history of Copenhagen Airport also included the
busiest travel day ever. On Friday, 27 June, 98,674 passengers travelled
through the airport, 4,000 more than the previous record set in Easter 2014.
"With almost 100,000 passengers passing through the airport in one day, it goes
without saying that things were more than just busy in the terminals. Thanks to
our large-scale conversion and expansion of Terminal 2 and the baggage
facilities in the last few years, we have been able to absorb the growth and
give the many travellers a good start to their holidays," said Copenhagen
Airport CEO Thomas Woldbye.
International traffic grew by 8.5%, and the number of transfer passengers was
up by 19.4% – a remarkably strong increase in a summer month, when many leisure
travellers normally prefer point-to-point flights. Domestic traffic was up by
5.9%.
