15.3 – 15.5 Significant features of operating performance
-
During the financial year, the profitability of the consolidated entity was impacted by:
-
continued organic revenue growth of the information services business in Australia and New Zealand, primarily from increased market data services for both IRESS and webIRESS, as well as sales of trading related systems and services, in particular IOS, IPS, FIX and ETCs;
-
continued strong growth in recurring subscription revenues for our Wealth Management product in Australia and New Zealand (Xplan and PlanTech), including positive earnings contributions from the VisiPlan business acquired in April 2007, and the Spotlight (RSA) business acquired in July 2007;
-
an increase in operating costs associated with headcount growth, particularly in the Wealth Management segment, to maintain client and product development, as well as increases in data provider and communication and technology fees;
-
a small negative contribution made by the Canadian operations, largely due to expenditure associated with scaling up network infrastructure, staffing levels and data fees in preparation for anticipated growth.
15.6 Other factors which have affected or likely to affect the results
Please refer to the Audited Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December 2007.
16. Compliance Statement
This report should be read in conjunction with the attached Audited Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December 2007.
