Southern Gold Chairman, Mr Greg Boulton: “Peter will be a valuable addition to the board of Southern Gold, with his vast experience in the gold mining sector at senior levels, and will be complimentary to Southern Gold’s focus on being a selfsustaining gold explorer and producer.”

Peter has a career spanning more than 40 years in the construction and mining industries, principally in underground mining operations as a mining engineer, mine manager and as a corporate executive. Peter is a graduate of the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College London, where he received First Class Honours in a Bachelor of Science (Engineering) and was awarded the AG Charleton and Governors Prizes. Peter is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Peter’s experience includes senior appointments with Mount Isa Mines, Metana/Gold Mines of Australia, Dominion Mining (subsequently Kingsgate Consolidation) and Doray Minerals, among others. His time with Dominion and Kingsgate spanned 15 years which included responsibility for the Challenger gold mine which grew from an initial 105,000oz gold reserve to produce over 1.1M ounces of gold principally from narrow vein underground mining.

Peter was General Manager Operations responsible to the Doray Minerals board for the new greenfield developments at the Andy Well and Deflector gold mines.

In addition to extensive executive experience, Peter has also served on several boards during the last 25 years, including Maiden Gold, Heron Resources and Dominion Mining. The executive director role with Dominion saw Peter involved in the reviewing of merger and acquisition opportunities in gold, copper, base metals and minerals sands projects worldwide.

Peter has also served the broader industry being a member of the Executive Council for the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia for 9 years.

Southern Gold has several development gold mining projects currently in the pipeline. These include the Cannon underground gold mine and other prospects in Western Australia, the Gubong Gold Project and projects such as Weolyu in South Korea all likely to include high grade narrow vein underground mining.

Southern Gold Ltd is a successful gold explorer and producer listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (under ASX ticker “SAU”). At the Cannon project near Kalgoorlie we are currently developing a small underground operation with development partner Westgold Resources Ltd. In South Korea, Southern Gold also owns a portfolio of high grade gold projects that are a combination of decommissioned gold mines with orogenic gold mineralisation and greenfield epithermal gold targets. Backed by a first class technical team, including renowned geologist Douglas Kirwin, Southern Gold’s aim is to find world-class epithermal gold deposits.

In essence, Southern Gold looks to monetise the small gold deposits while we search for the bigger ones.
