Intertek enters exclusive agreement with Global Leader in Auto Parts Certification

Intertek Group plc ('Intertek'), a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, is pleased to announce that it has entered into an exclusive services appointment and license agreement with the Certified Automotive Parts Association ('CAPA'), a leading, independent non-profit certification organization for automotive replacement parts.

The agreement grants Intertek exclusive rights to operate the CAPA certification programme around the world. It also represents a compelling opportunity for the Group to expand the CAPA testing programme so that it encompasses a wider range of replacement parts and regions where no formal process currently exists to assure the suitability and quality of automotive replacement products.

Under the agreement, Intertek will administer the programme, which includes managing daily operations, administering certification marks and labels, performing marketing activities and conducting testing and inspection services. CAPA will continue as a non-profit standard development organization, focusing on maintaining CAPA standards in support of its mission.

Aftermarket auto parts are made by manufacturers and used for post-sale repairs or enhancements in place of service parts produced by or for the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). CAPA is the global leader in aftermarket part certification. For 30 years, CAPA standards have been used worldwide to certify that aftermarket auto parts are of high quality based on their design, materials and construction. Under their programme, more than 92 million replacement parts have been certified.

For more than 26 years, Intertek has served as a testing and validation partner to CAPA, based on years of expertise in performance, quality and reliability standards and expectations for the industry.
