Technical Review

The p a tented W angle o p timisation algorithm s , network infrastructure and mobile Applic a tions remain at the c o re of the W angle tec h nology off e ring, with t he current iOS and Androi d mobile V PN App p roducts now delive r ing increasing mobil e internet speeds, improv e d data sa v ings and greater net w ork securit y .

In add i tion the 2 0 16 design a tion as a Carrier Service Provi d er ( CSP ) a nd subsequent reengine e ring of th e platform to enable complian c e with Au s tralian Communicati o ns and Media A uthority ( ACMA ) and Communi c ations Ac c ess Coordinator ( CAC ) requirements has added network m onitoring, data ca p ture and analysis c a pabilities that incre a se the comm e rcial oppo r tunities av a ilable to t h e Company.

This co m bination o f a best in class VPN network c o mbined with data c a pture and analysis capabilities crea t es an opportunity f or Wangl e to mov e beyond being a network infrastr u cture busi n ess only, a n d towards data-driven business m odels whi c h include network behavi o ural analy s is and real - time monit o ring of ne t work usag e .

Over t h e third financial qu a rter of FY17 the Co m pany has diligently t ested the Wangle networ k layer and VPN appli c ations to e n sure this f o undation l e vel of tec h nology is o p timised with a k ey focus o n speed, security and s calability.

As well as continued inte r nal testin g , the Co m pany als o engage d the ser v ices of Pricew a terhouseCoopers ( PwC ) to und e rtake ind e pendent a ssurance t esting of t he VPN networ k , with resu l ts now pu b lished con f irming spe e ds up to t w ice as fas t as Open V PN and with dr a matic imp r ovements i n data tra n smission speeds.

Commercial Product Strategy

Whilst p revious c o mmercial focus has centred o n custome r acquisitio n and sub s cription models for the W a ngle VPN m obile App specificall y , the Com p any has determined that the Wangl e VPN net w ork is a st r ong core f oundation on which to build m ultiple co m mercial verticals. With the addition of advance d network data capt u re and a n alytics ca p abilities, the W a ngle netw o rk now of f ers a uniq u e feature set to hel p realise th e true co m mercial value o f the technology.

Wangl e is currentl y developi n g a famil y protectio n product w hich will u t ilise the u n derlying Wangl e VPN net w ork due f o r launch in April. The product will help p arents identify risk behavi o urs of onli n e access b y their chil d ren, provi d e real-tim e alerting a n d risk anal y sis, and provid e advice a n d resourc e s when ri s k behavio u rs are observed. The product i s unique within t he family p rotection vertical in that it revi e ws the b e haviours r a ther than content (preser v ing the pr i vacy of c h ildren and teenagers), can mo n itor traffic on multipl e mobile device s outside o f home networks, a n d offers real conte n t and ad v ice on the issues identifi e d.

This pr o duct addr e sses a to p ical and l a rgely una d dressed is s ue within t oday’s so c iety. By applying a new a n d global l e ading app r oach to o n e of the bi g gest probl e ms facing parents and th e ir children’s use of th e Internet t o day, Wan g le will posi t ion itself to lead the c ategory as a true partner t o families a n d is prepa r ing for full c ommercial launch in Q uarter 1 of FY18.

Utilising the same network monitoring capability as Wangle F amily Insit e s, the Co m pany is develo p ing an E n terprise-le v el real-ti m e mobile monitoring platform which will enable enterprise clients t o secure a n d monitor t he use of e ither com p any-owne d or Bring Y o ur Own Device (BYOD) mobile devi c es. In addition to thi s , the beh a vioural da t a analysis systems utilised by Wangl e Family Insi t es will be u tilised by the Enterpri s e product to predict, identify and n o tify comp a nies in re a l-time of risk behavi o urs includi n g cyber t h reats and internal Comp a ny IP theft.

Curren t ly Enterpris e Level VP N solutions o ffer prote c tion from I P and dat a theft via desktop and la p top intern e t connecti o ns, howe v er as mobile devices b ecome m o re prevalent in the workfo r ce they pose a far gr e ater risk fo r business’ w ishing to control their own IP, pa r ticularly as BYO D policies b ecome m o re commo n place wit h in organisations.

It is anticipated that the W a ngle Ente r prise solution will be available in market by FY18 Quarte r 3.

Previously Announced Commercial Opportunities

In order to enabl e the Company to take advant a ge of the largest a n d most im m ediate revenu e opportu n ities, maxi m ise the u s e of reso u rces and closely m a nage cos t s, other previo u sly announ c ed busine s s models, i n cluding d e velopment of Wangl e hardware (i.e. the “Chip”), have been paused t o allow gre a ter focus o n the initial commercial product releases which C ompany r e search has indicated will provid e a greater ROI to the sharehold e r.
