Indutrade acquires med-tech company

Indutrade today acquired all of the shares in EssMed AB, in Mölnlycke, Sweden, with annual sales of approximately SEK 60 million.

EssMed markets ophthalmology products and services. The company is a market leader in sales of equipment to private and public sector ophthalmology departments. EssMed also sells other medical products, including operation microscopes and pressure relief devices. The company has a subsidiary in Finland.

The acquisition of EssMed marks the entry into a new product segment for Indutrade, in the pharmaceutical industry. Organisationally, EssMed will be included in the Industrial Components business area, which had net sales of SEK 940 million in 2007.

The acquisition is expected to have a marginally positive impact on Indutrade's earnings per share.
