DIRECTOR RETIREMENT AND PROPOSED NEW APPOINTMENT

Imdex Limited (Imdex) today announced its chairman’s decision to retire from this position effective at the completion of the Company’s Annual General Meeting on 15 October 2009. Dr Burston, who was appointed to Imdex’s Board in November 2000, currently serves as a nonexecutive director for a number of listed and unlisted companies and wishes to reduce his working commitments.

Dr Burston will be succeeded by Mr Ross Kelly, a qualified electrical engineer, fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and member of Imdex’s Board of Directors since 2004.

Mr Kelly brings to the chairman’s role significant business and leadership experience having served as both chairman and a non-executive director of Clough Limited, chairman of Sumich Group Limited and Orbital Corporation Limited and a non executive director of Aurora Gold Limited and PA Consulting Services Limited. In addition, he has acted in an advisory role to the Western Australian Government and consulted to a number of major Australian companies within the mining, offshore gas, oil refining, steel, construction and heavy process industries.

In his review of Dr Burston’s achievements, Mr Kelly said “Ian has made a tremendous contribution to Imdex since his appointment to the Board in November 2000. He has overseen the transition from a local company to a global company with a focussed and proven strategy for growth in the drilling fluids and down hole instrumentation business. We are extremely grateful for his leadership and guidance during his tenure at Imdex and wish him well in his future endeavours,” said Mr Kelly.

Dr Burston commented that he was extremely proud of the Company’s achievements, “Imdex has evolved into a significant global company with world class expertise, research and development capabilities and leading products for both the mineral exploration and oil and gas industries”.

“My retirement from Imdex presents a timely opportunity to increase the oil and gas expertise on the Board in line with Imdex’s strategy of expansion into this sector”.

The Company will seek to make an appointment of an additional non-executive director with such experience as soon as possible.

COMPANY INFORMATION

Imdex Limited provides drilling fluids and chemicals and leading down hole instrumentation globally. The Company has streamlined its business into two distinct divisions, the Drilling Fluids and Chemicals (DFC) Division and the Down Hole Instrumentation (DHI) Division.

The DFC Division manufactures and sells drilling fluids and chemicals to the mining, oil and gas, water well, civil and horizontal directional drilling industries globally. Fluids and chemicals are required in the drilling process primarily to cool and lubricate the drill bit, keep the hole open and to return cuttings to the surface.

The DHI Division uses proprietary technology to manufacture and distribute a range of advanced down hole instrumentation to the mineral exploration and oil and gas markets. The instrumentation is used primarily in surveying drill holes and providing core orientation data. These instruments are rented to customers in preference to being sold.
