MILESTONES IN THE FEDERAL AND STATE ENVIRONMENTAL APPROVALS PROCESSES

During the now lapsed period for public submissions relating to the Boonanarring mineral sands project under the Environmental Protection Act, 1986 (WA) ( EP Act ), 11 submissions were made. Image is preparing responses to the submissions which did not raise any issue which had not been identified. Image believes effective management measures or mitigation for the issues raised can be included in the operational planning for the project.

Image has also received formal confirmation from the federal Department of the Environment that no further assessment and approval of the Boonanarring project is required under the Commonwealth Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999.

Discussions and preparation of applications for secondary project approvals such as the Mining Proposal and Mine Closure Plan under the Mining Act 1978, the Works Approvals applications under Part V of the EP Act, and licences to take groundwater under the Rights in Water and Irrigation Act 1914 are underway.
