IGO APPOINTS DR XIAOPING YANG AS NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

IGO Limited (ASX:IGO) (IGO or the Company) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Xiaoping Yang to its board as an independent non-executive director.

IGO’s Chairman, Mr Peter Bilbe, said the Company was delighted Xiaoping had accepted the invitation to join the board, with effect from 1 December 2020, as an independent non-executive director.

“Xiaoping is a highly regarded senior executive, having held a number of executive roles at BP in both US and Asia locations. She brings an impressive range of skills and capabilities, including strong technology development and innovation skills, and a deep knowledge in the areas of strategic business development, manufacturing operations and risk management. We are very much looking forward to the contribution that Xiaoping’s varied experience will make to our board.

Xiaoping’s appointment is also consistent with our previously stated commitment, as a company, to promote diversity across our business and will take female representation on the IGO Board to 43%.”

Separately, and as previously communicated, the Board are continuing the search process for a replacement Chair and will make the necessary announcements when an appointment is made.

Background on Xiaoping Yang (PhD ChemE, MBA)

Dr Yang is a chemical engineer with 30 years’ international and multi-cultural business experience in the USA and Asia. Most recently she served as Chair and President of BP China and for the last 30 years has held a variety of international executive roles at BP. During her long career with BP she has held roles at a technical and executive leadership, and board committee level within BP’s Group downstream and new energy frontier businesses, including accountability of chemicals manufacturing operations.

Dr Yang’s diverse experience skills and qualities includes a passion for clean energy with direct experience with solar, hydrogen and energy storage technologies, significant experience in doing business in China, strategic business development and expansion, manufacturing and operations, risk management, sales and marketing, and public & government affairs.

Dr Yang holds a Bachelor of Science from Jiangnan University China, a PhD in chemical engineering from Purdue University, USA and an MBA from University of Chicago, USA.

With a commitment to the promotion of international trade and global business leadership, Xiaoping served as Vice Chairman of China British Business Council, Chairman’s Circle of American Chamber of Commerce China, and Executive Advisory Committee Member of European Chamber of Commerce China, a member of University of Chicago Advisory Group, Executive Advisory Member of Tsinghua University Clean Energy Center, Advisory Board Director of East China University of Science and Technology, Advisory Board Director of China Business Committee of Sustainable Development, and Executive Board Director of China Petroleum Chemical Industry Federation.

Xiaoping is highly recognised by various external organisations for her extraordinary contributions in business and has received distinguished honours, including Outstanding Business Female by Forbes China 2019, Women of Year 2020 by Entrepreneur Magazine’s Business, 2020 Top Global Female Influencers in Energy by Oil and Gas Councils, and 2020 Outstanding Chemical Engineering Award from the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University.
