IGO APPOINTS KATHLEEN BOZANIC AS NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Independence Group NL (ASX:IGO) (IGO or the Company) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Kathleen Bozanic to its board as an independent non-executive director.

IGO’s Chairman, Mr Peter Bilbe, said the Company was delighted Kathleen had accepted the invitation to join the board, with effect from 3 October 2019, as an independent non-executive director ahead of the planned retirement of Mr Geoff Clifford at the Company’s Annual General Meeting on 20 November 2019.

“Kathleen is a highly regarded finance professional and experienced non-executive director, having operated in a number of non-executive Board roles, Chief Financial Officer/General Manager of listed and private mining and contracting companies and been a Partner of professional services firm, Deloitte.

She brings an impressive range of skills and capabilities, including strong financial, accounting and commercial experience, strong strategic transformation and business planning skills, and a deep knowledge in the areas of compliance, governance, risk and financial management. We are very much looking forward to the contribution that Kathleen’s varied experience will make to our board.

Kathleen’s appointment is also consistent with our previously stated commitment, as a company, to promote gender diversity across our business and the industry and will take female representation on the IGO Board following the 2019 annual general meeting from 14 to 29%. Plans are in place to further increase female representation on the board in 2020.”

Background on Kathleen Bozanic (BCom, GAICD)

Ms Bozanic has over 25 years of experience, establishing her career with a range of roles at Deloitte before progressing to Partner in 2007. Since leaving Deloitte, Kathleen has worked with the finance teams of Atlas Iron Limited and Mount Gibson Iron Limited and, most recently, is the Chief Financial Officer at BGC Contracting Pty Ltd, based in Perth.

Ms Bozanic brings strong accounting and audit skills to the IGO board as well as a diverse skill set and significant experience with strategic transformation, leadership and a demonstrated knowledge of regulatory environments gained from working in senior roles in the resources and services industries. She also has a demonstrated track record of managing commercial and legal requirements for acquisitions and capital raisings.

Kathleen’s skillset and experience has been further broadened thorough her work with a number of Board roles. She is currently a non-executive director for Great Southern Mining Limited, a mineral exploration company listed on the ASX, a non-executive director for Future Force Foundation, a rugby academy focused on the development of local, national and international youth talent and a member of the board of the Child and Adolescent Health Service as part of the Western Australian Department of Health. She has chaired and held committee roles for audit, risk or finance on these and other boards and is also currently a non-executive member of the KUFPEC Australia Pty Ltd Audit and Risk Committee, a company focused on exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas.

Ms Bozanic holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia, is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
