MANAGING DIRECTOR ON LEAVE

Independence Group NL (“Company”) (ASX: IGO) advises that its Managing Director, Mr Chris Bonwick, is on leave for health reasons. The Company will provide an update to the market in due course on Mr Bonwick’s return date.

For the duration of Mr Bonwick’s leave, Mr Brett Hartmann, the Company’s Group Operations Manager, will be Acting Chief Executive Officer and will assume Mr Bonwick’s responsibilities. Mr Hartmann is a qualified Mining Engineer with over 15 years’ experience, and has been with the Company since 2004 (see attached a summary of Mr Hartmann’s experience).

In addition Mr Peter Bilbe, the Company’s non-executive Chairman, will maintain an active involvement in the day to day management of the Company.

The Board has full confidence in the Company’s highly experienced senior management team under the direction of Mr Hartmann, and it’s ability to continue to successfully manage the Company’s business and operations.

Mr Brett Hartmann

Brett Hartmann is a qualified mining engineer with over 15 years’ experience. Brett joined Independence Group NL in 2004 and was appointed Resident Manager of the Long Nickel Operation in 2005. Brett was appointed to the position of Group Operations’ Manager in 2010. With Independence Group’s acquisition of the Jaguar Operation in 2011, Brett’s technical expertise was integral in leading the Group to successfully achieving record production since the operation’s inception.

Prior to joining Independence Group, Brett worked nationally in operational and contractual roles on a number of large scale operations. These include BHP Billiton’s Cannington Mine Operation, Qld and the CSA Mine in Cobar, NSW. Brett’s experience also extends to narrow vein underground mining operations, having worked at Norseman Gold WA, and the Miitel nickel operation, Kambalda WA.
