Launch of ICL's New Power Plant in Sodom
Further to Note 21A(4) of ICL's financial statements for the year 2017, the Company hereby reports that as of today it has obtained all approvalsrequired for the operation of the new heat and power plant in Sodom, which is now in full operation. The new power plant is the largest, most efficient enterprise-owned natural gas fired power plant in Israel for the production of electricity and steam based on natural gas. The power plant has a power generation capacity of 230 MWh and over 300 tons of steam per hour. Most of the power generated by the power plant is designed to provide the power requirements of all of ICL's production facilities in Israel, as well as the steam requirements of ICL companies in Sodom, thus reducing their energy costs. The Company intends to continue operating the existing power plant on a partial basis as a "live backup" for the generation of electricity and steam. The Current total power output is approximately 245 MWh.
The launch of the new power plant is part of an ongoing process in ICL, to assimilate clean energy processes throughout all ICL sites through the use of natural gas as a primary energy source, and as part of other energy efficiency measures performed in ICL sites in Israel and abroad. The new power plant meets the most stringent emission standards, and its operation is expected to contribute to an additional reduction of emissions generated by ICL plants.

הפעלת תחנת הכוח החדשה של כיל בסדום
בהמשך לביאור 21א.)4( לדוחות הכספיים של כיל לשנת ,2017 החברה מודיעה, כי היום הושלמה קבלתם של כל האישורים להפעלת תחנת הכוח החדשה בסדום, והיא פועלת באופן מלא. תחנת הכוח החדשה הינה התחנה המפעלית הגדולה והיעילה ביותר בישראל להפקת חשמל וקיטור באמצעות גז טבעי.
התחנה בעלת כושר ייצור של 230 מגוואט ומעל 300 טון קיטור לשעה. מרבית החשמל שייוצר בתחנה מיועד לספק את צרכי החשמל של כל מתקני הייצור של כיל בישראל ואת צרכי הקיטור של חברות כיל בסדום וכן להוזיל את עלות האנרגיה שלהם. בכוונת החברה להפעיל את התחנה במקביל להמשך הפעלת התחנה הקיימת שתופעל חלקית במתכונת "גיבוי חם" לייצור חשמל וקיטור. סך כל ייצור החשמל הנוכחי הינו כ245- MWH.
הפעלת תחנת הכוח הינה חלק ממהלך מתמשך להטמעת תהליכי אנרגיה נקייה בכל אתרי כיל באמצעות שימוש בגז טבעי כמקור האנרגיה העיקרי, ומשתלבת בתהליכי התייעלות אנרגטיים אחרים המבוצעים באתרי כיל בארץ ובעולם. תחנת הכוח החדשה עומדת בכל תקני הפליטות המחמירים ביותר ופעילותה צפויה לתרום להפחתה נוספת בפליטות של מפעלי כיל.
