Holista Acquires Protectene™, to Add Advanced Skin Ingredient to Its Range of Sanitising Products Under Natshield™

Holista Colltech (ASX:HCT, “Holista”) refers to its previous announcements in relation to the NatShield™ sanitiser developed and marketed by the company which includes the alcohol-free and plant-based Path-Away® active ingredient developed by Global Infection Control Consultants (“GICC LLC”).
Holista is pleased to announce that it has fully acquired the technology of Protectene™, a skin stabiliser for cosmetic applications that incorporates Path-Away® from GICC LLC. Protectene® is a special formulation that lasts longer and is more gentler on the skin while maintaining all the basic features of Path-Away® . Holista will now own the trademark Protectene™ and all the rights to use it including the domains.
Protectene™ has been developed to sanitise the human skin including the face and nasal membranes, making it relevant for the nasal balm under development It also lasts longer on the skin surface as it creates a biofilm on the skin’s surface for longer sanitisation.
While Protectene™ will now be held exclusively by Holista, it will still be manufactured by GICC LLC at its exclusive facility in Bluffton, South Carolina. Protectene™ will be included in all future formulations of NatShield™ for personal use, including the nasal sanitising balm.
In consideration for the transfer of the technology of Protectene™, Holista intends to grant GICC LLC 2,000,000 options in HCT, with an exercise price of A$0.20 each and expiring 31 December 2020. This is subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting, likely to be in the last week of July.
“While Path-Away® has applications for a myriad of uses – human, veterinary, agricultural and environmental – and spans many industries, Protectene™ is designed specifically for human skin, making it ideal for those with sensitive skin or part of the human body such as nasal membranes,” said Dr Arthur V. Martin, President of GICC LLC.
“We intend to offer Protectene™ as a more specialised ingredient that uses it exclusively for the NatShield™ brand . We are confident that Protectene® will be a unique differentiator” , said Dr. Rajen Manicka, CEO of Holista.
Natshield containing Path-Away® has been proven 99.99% effective against the surrogate of COVID19 - the feline coronavirus. The all-natural alcohol-free solution was tested in one of the U.K’s leading microbiology labs (Refer to ASX Announcement dated 20 April 2020, titled ‘Successful UK Lab tests’).
