Corporate News dated 17 June 2013
HMS Bergbau AG sells port operations in Indonesia
– Significant net cash inflow
– HMS now purely a trading and marketing company
– Extension of exclusive (coal) marketing agreements
Berlin, 17 June 2013: HMS Bergbau AG, an international coal trading group with operative expertise in the extraction, handling and trading of coal, has sold its port operations in Indonesia. By disposing these activities, including the service agreement, HMS Bergbau AG has systematically implemented and concluded its strategic repositioning as a pure-play trading and marketing company as was announced in 2011.
The inflow of significant net liquidity (after the deduction of financing loans) is a matter of key importance to the strategic objectives of HMS Bergbau AG. As a result of the sale, HMS Bergbau will generate a low loss on disposals in the 2013 financial year relative to the liquidity inflow. It has been agreed not to disclose the details of the contract.
The liquidity inflow from the transaction is to be predominantly used on the Asian and African markets – particularly for exclusive marketing agreements with coal producers. The aim of such agreements is to establish long-term customer and supplier relationships. In addition to stable sales and earnings contributions, the agreements that are usually concluded for longer periods offer HMS Bergbau AG a competitive edge in terms of ensuring coal supplies and complying with delivery commitments in particular.
