Richard Watson appointed Executive director

Hamilton, Bermuda (16 May 2013) -- Hiscox Ltd (LSE:HSX), international specialist insurer, today announces that at a Board meeting following the Annual General Meeting, Richard Watson, Group Chief Underwriting Officer, was appointed as Executive Director of Hiscox Ltd.

Richard took over from Rob Childs as Group Chief Underwriting Officer in February. He joined Hiscox in 1986 and has underwritten many insurance lines including political risks, specie, professional indemnity, and reinsurance. In 2006 he became Managing Director of Hiscox London Market and Active Underwriter for Syndicate 33 before moving to the US in 2009 to become CEO of Hiscox USA business. Richard returned to London in September 2012 to become Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer working closely with Rob Childs in guiding Hiscox's underwriting strategy. Prior to working at Hiscox, Richard worked as a broker at Sedgwick and Hogg Robinson.

Hiscox Chairman Rob Childs commented, "I am delighted Richard has joined the Hiscox Board. I believe he is admirably qualified to guide the Group in the next phase of its development."

There are no details that are required to be disclosed in respect of the appointment of Richard Watson under Paragraph 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
