Himax to Vigorously Defend Against Securities Class Action Lawsuits

Tainan, Taiwan, August 20, 2007 - Himax Technologies, Inc. (“Himax” or ”Company”) (NASDAQ: HIMX) today announced that the Company’s Chief Financial Officer, Max Chan, has been named as a defendant in purported securities class action lawsuits filed in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. The suits are allegedly brought on behalf of purchasers of the Company’s common stock issued in its Initial Public Offering and allege a violation of Sections 11, 12(a)(2) and 15 of the Securities Act of 1934, and that the Company’s CFO also breached his fiduciary duties.

The Company intends to vigorously defend them.

Himax Technologies, Inc. designs, develops and markets semiconductors that are critical components of flat panel displays. The Company’s principal products are display drivers for large-sized TFT-LCD panels, which are used in desktop monitors, notebook computers and televisions, and display drivers for small- and medium-sized TFT-LCD panels, which are used in mobile handsets and consumer electronics products such as digital cameras, mobile gaming devices and car navigation displays.
