HIGHFIELD ANNOUNCES SENIOR PROJECT APPOINTMENTS IN SPAIN

Highfield Resources Ltd. (“Highfield” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce two senior management appointments to its Spanish project team, Mr. Alfredo L. Menéndez Diaz (Mining Eng.) and Mr. Michael X. Schlumpberger (PE). Messrs. Menéndez Diaz and Schlumpberger will focus on the construction and ongoing operations, respectively, of the Company’s flagship Muga Project (“Muga” or “the Project”), located just outside of Pamplona in northern Spain.

Mr. Menéndez Diaz has been appointed as Executive General Manager – Construction, and will have direct responsibility for the construction of Muga.

Mr. Menéndez Diaz has over 30 years operational mining experience, the majority of which has been gained in Spain, most recently as General Manager of SADIM, one of the largest mining engineering consultancies in Spain. Significantly, Mr. Menéndez Diaz has been directly responsible for the construction, commissioning and operations of a number of mines in Spain, including Aguas Teňidas, an underground copper-lead-zinc mine located in the Huelva Province of southern Spain.

Mr. Schlumpberger has been appointed as Executive General Manager – Operations and will be responsible for operational interface during the design and construction phase of the Project, and will have direct responsibility for the ongoing operations at Muga when construction is complete.

Mr. Schlumpberger has nearly 30 years mining experience including over 21 years in various roles with Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan (“PotashCorp”). Importantly, he was Mine General Superintendent for the 8 million tonne per annum Lanigan Potash Mine for over 3 years where he had full responsibility for all aspects of underground mining and hoisting. During this period, he also managed and executed the expansion of the Lanigan Mine, increasing production by nearly 50%.

Highfield is currently in the final stages of completing its Definitive Feasibility Study for the Muga Project, which will build upon the robust work completed to date as part of the Company’s Pre-Feasibility Study that was released to the market in May 2014 (refer ASX Announcement 20 May 2014).

The Board is delighted that executives of the calibre of Messrs. Menéndez Diaz and Schlumpberger have chosen to join the Company at such a pivotal time in its development. Their reputations within the Spanish mining and broader potash industry, respectively, are a strong endorsement of the quality of the Muga Project and the work completed to date by the Highfield project team. Their addition to the team strengthens Highfield’s Spanish execution capabilities greatly, and enhances the Company’s ability to achieve its objective of becoming a potash producer.
