ASX Release 23 November 2015
FORMER CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OF POTASHCORP APPOINTED TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Spanish potash developer, Highfield Resources (ASX: HFR) (“Highfield” or “the Company”), is pleased to announce that Mr. James “Jim” F. Dietz has been appointed to the Board as an independent non-executive director.
Jim’s appointment is the latest initiative in Highfield´s commitment to progress its Board composition to contain a majority of independent directors, ahead of the Company’s transition from a successful potash explorer and developer, to a low cost, high margin potash producer.
Jim has over 41 years’ experience in the fertiliser, chemical and petroleum industries, primarily in senior operational roles. From 2000 until 2010, he was Chief Operating Officer (“COO”) of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan (“PotashCorp”), the world’s largest fertiliser company. Prior to that position, Jim held a variety of other senior management roles, including President of Nitrogen, during his 17 year career with PotashCorp.
During that time, Jim was responsible for global operations as well as its Safety, Health, and Environment performance and the Procurement functions. He also represented PotashCorp on the Board of Directors of Arab Potash Company.
Prior to PotashCorp, Jim worked for Standard Oil of Ohio that was acquired by British Petroleum.
Jim is a Chemical Engineer and holds both a Masters and Bachelors designation from the Ohio State University. He is a non-executive director of Rentech Nitrogen Group.
Jim will receive cash remuneration of A$60,000 per annum and 1,000,000 options over ordinary shares in the Company with a strike price of $2.00 and an expiry date of 30 June 2019, subject to shareholder approval at the next convened meeting of the shareholders.
Highfield´s Chairman, Derek Carter, commented,
“To have an experienced senior industry professional of Jim’s calibre join the Board of Highfield is a ringing endorsement of the quality of the Company’s projects and the work being done by our Spanish based project team.
We look forward to working closely with Jim and utilising his extensive knowledge and experience in the global fertiliser market as we move our projects towards production.”
