HELMA Eigenheimbau AG reports significant growth in new orders in 2008
financial year

Lehrte, January 9, 2009 – With 425 units sold in the 2008 financial year
(previous year: 390), HELMA Eigenheimbau AG achieved the highest new order
flow in the history of the company. Given an average net sales price of
TEUR 163 (previous year: TEUR 153), this corresponds to a net inflow of new
orders of around EUR 69.2 million (previous year: EUR 59.8 million).

This positive trend particularly reflects the completed expansion of the
network of showhouses, and the company's strong positioning in the
energy-efficient construction technique area. In the new sales regions of
Bavaria and Baden Württemberg, for instance, there was a significant rise
in the number of houses sold by around 150 percent to over 50 units, and
there was an increase in the sales share of KfW 40/60 and solar houses sold
across the whole of Germany from around 13 percent to approximately 45
percent.

HELMA Eigenheimbau AG consequently managed to achieve renewed growth in new
orders in a market environment that continues to be challenging, and which
remains characterised by a fall in the number of building permits issued.
Despite the detectable uncertainty among the public precipitated by the
current financial and economic crisis, the company's order situation
remained robust in the fourth quarter of 2008. December, for example, was
last year's strongest month in terms of sales.

FEDERAL ENVIRONMENTAL MINISTER GABRIEL VIEWS HELMA SOLAR HOUSE:

HELMA Eigenheimbau AG together with SOLVIS GmbH & Co. KG will be welcoming
Federal Environmental Minister Sigmar Gabriel (SPD) to its showhouse park
in Lehrte on January 12, 2009. A special focus of Mr Gabriel's visit will
be a viewing of the HELMA solar house with the aim of gaining a first-hand
impression of this forward-looking house construction technique.

'It gives us particular pleasure that the HELMA solar house is now
attracting attention at the level of national government,' were HELMA CEO
Karl-Heinz Maerzke's words of comment on the environmental minister's
visit. 'This underscores the great interest shown in all quarters in this
innovative type of house, which will allow us to further strengthen our
leading position in the area of energy-efficient construction techniques
over coming years,' he went on to say.

NOTE CONCERNING THE PUBLICATION OF SALES FIGURES:

In order to enhance transparency, HELMA Eigenheimbau AG is publishing the
number of units sold very shortly after the conclusion of the financial
year ending December 31, 2008. It should be noted that cancellations of
recently concluded sales agreements may occur up to the publication of the
annual report in April 2009, consequently potentially giving rise to
different sales figures compared with those contained in this announcement.
The company estimates the potential deviation to be in a range of 10 to 20
units.
