Appointment of a Chief Executive of Medical Centres

Primary Health Care Limited (“Primary”) today announced the appointment of Dr Tim Haggett to the position of Chief Executive of the Medical Centres division, effective 23 October 2017.

Primary’s Managing Director and CEO, Dr Malcolm Parmenter, welcomed the appointment, stating: “Tim is an extremely experienced clinician, businessman and entrepreneur who brings to Primary a wealth of deep and relevant knowledge in the frontline healthcare sector.

“Having already successfully built a network of clinics which provide GP, dental, urgent care and other services under one roof, I expect him to hit the ground running and to effectively execute on strategies to evolve Primary’s large‐scale medical centres model.

“I am also pleased to say that Dr John Houston, who has done a wonderful job spearheading the transition of our Medical Centres as well as developing stronger relationships with GPs and improving engagement with staff, is committed to remaining with Primary in both a clinical and an advisory role. I am delighted that we will continue to benefit from his experience and wealth of knowledge.

“Furthermore, Primary remains fully supportive of the independent Health & Co business which, under its Chief Executive Maxine Jaquet, continues to grow its network of established GP clinics and to diversify revenue in an environment of Government funding pressures. Success in both medical centre businesses goes hand‐in‐hand with our commitment to deliver quality care to the community through innovative patient‐focussed services.”

Dr Haggett said: “I am excited to be appointed by Primary as Chief Executive of Medical Centres. Primary has a great footprint of assets in Australia and the healthcare sector has real opportunities for growth through advancement in technology and in customer service. I am sure those players who can capitalise on the strong fundamentals and be at the forefront of change will succeed.”

Dr Parmenter concluded: “My focus is on the success of our core businesses. I believe we have a capable and experienced management team, ideally placed to see the group through this stage of its evolution. I look forward to updating the market further at our AGM in November.”
